Welcome..... Good Shepherd Lutheran Church would like to invite you to join us for worship and fellowship. We began in the 1950's as small group from First Lutheran, meeting next door in the Lutheran School (Belvoir Christian Academy) before taking on the daunting task of building our own facility. In September of 1960, we opened our doors and began serving the community. Thirty one years later, an arsonist thought they could put an end to that. They were never caught, but churches and communities across the nation reached out to us. Through the love of friends and strangers, we rebuilt a beautiful facility – larger and better suited to all of the opportunities we offer in service of God and to our fellow man. |
For more information about
who we are and
what
we believe, the following will help you to better
understand. Lutheranism is based on the theology of Martin Luther. The unintentional founder of our church and the man who started the Protestant Reformation. Luther outlined his theology in the Augsburg Confession, which later was combined with other subsequent documents. This is now known as the Book of Concord. It completely outlines the Lutheran faith. Later in the mid-1800's, a man named C.F.W. Walther became the first president of our synod, The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, or LCMS. If you have more specific questions about the Lutheran Church you can also perform keyword searches on the LCMS website. |

Faith is a living and daring confidence in God's grace, so sure and certain
that a man could stake his life on it a thousand times. ~Martin Luther |

I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. ~Jesus (John 10:14-15) | ||
